Will the real truth please stand up?
Welcome to our curated, photoshopped reality
Willingly or not, we’re all in an advanced, graduate level program in discrimination, discernment and critical thinking. Or if you prefer this metaphor—life is offering us daily practice inside a martial arts dojo for building our psychic strength.
Either way, we have constant lessons and opportunities to practice non-reactivity and discernment.
Consider the source of each "news" post, first.
Second, do the images make sense and seem real?
Third, pay careful attention to the dates. Do they even make sense? For example I have seen frightening posts on the Book of Fake, posts that present proposed laws from 2016 that never passed, as actual developments.
So much is false, fake, manipulated or designed to make us react in fear, anger or divisiveness. Before you go into survival brain and reactivity, or even if yo already have, stop! Take a deep breath, re-read, take a minute to feel into your gut. Am I sure this is true? Is it even worth reacting to?
Yes, in this sea of truth mixed with falsity, half truths, and AI, it’s truly hard to discern, and sometimes I get “gotten” by a headline or post and have to steer myself back to sanity.
Careful discrimination is critical, for conserving and protecting our emotional energy and our aura (psychic energy boundary around the body). Critical thinking is vital. Our body cues can also tell us a lot—notice your physiological responses (shallow breath, posture, level of tension vs relaxation, sense of grounding or feeling your feet). Listen to your gut and what your body is saying…there is wisdom there. Your senses, your instincts, your gut knowing are trying to inform you.

PS I leave with you with this…..
A teacher of mine said years ago, “In this Age of Kali Yuga, the last leg of the dharma is Truth”. That dharma (right action) is pretty darn wobbly, and seems to be barely balancing on that last leg. Some scholars of Hinduism/Vedic astrology say this age is ending March 30, in just nine days from now. I hope so!

Weaponized outrage, good phrase. Glad the post struck a chord
This really resonated. The metaphor of life as a psychic martial arts dojo? Spot on. It is daily training — in discernment, in not reacting to every headline, in protecting our energy from weaponized outrage. That reminder to pause and check your gut before spiraling is everything.
And that quote about Truth being the last leg of dharma in the Kali Yuga... oof. It feels like that. Let’s hope the next age brings a little more clarity and a lot less chaos.
